| Text: Luke 4:13-14 |

“When the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit unto Galilee and there went out a fame of Him throughout the region round about”.

The emphasis in this scripture is that Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit and there went out a fame of him roundabout the region of Galilee. This is the year of the Holy Spirit – the best year ever. To make this year your best year ever, the prescription is that you walk in the Spirit. There is the possibility of walking in the flesh; and walking in the flesh means being carnal, being worldly, following in the trends of the world, doing what other people do and what the devil wants you to do; not what God wants you to do. It is also possible to be in Church and be carnal and then be a loser. It is quite possible to sit in church for many years, and in fact all your life, and be worldly.

The bible says: Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit unto Galilee and there went out a fame of Him throughout the region round about. Now, Jesus had been in that same region all his 30 years of life and no one knew him. He was cocooned and veiled behind the business of his father (Joseph); and that was carpentry. Jesus was only known as the son of a carpenter all through his life and up until then. He had worked like everybody else. He had talked like everybody else. He had operated like everybody else but there came a time when his destiny had to open up. In order words, the purpose for which God sent him to the earth had to be actualized.

Have you struggled all your life? The divine order of God shall play out eloquently in your life this year, in the name of Jesus!
And so Jesus came into the Spirit world. John the Baptist announced Him to the world, saying: ‘Behold the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the whole world’. He was baptized by immersion and the bible says; when He came out of the water, the Heavens blasted open and a voice from Heaven announced and said: “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased”. God had endorsed him before all men but that endorsement did not stop Jesus from pursuing the very essence and purpose for which He came.

Pursuit of spirituality is what opens your destiny for all to see. The bible says that Jesus went into the wilderness to fast and to pray for 40 days, and to be tested of the beast in the wilderness. If you are going to take command of your destiny, there are some spiritual things that you’ve got to engage in:
1. FASTING. Your fasting doesn’t change God but it changes you. It brings your flesh under, so that your spirit man can dominate your life. Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, and was all through this 40 days, contending with invisible forces that wanted to cripple and paralyze his destiny.

Pay the price, so that you can take command! Haven’t you been mocked enough by people who say you will amount to nothing? That was what they said of Jesus! They said: “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Jesus had to go away to face God. It is time to run your back from all men and turn your face towards God! Nobody who ever seeks God conscientiously, ever come out of His presence empty!

Do you know that Moses at the age of 80 went into fasting for 40 days, all to get instructions from God? 40 days of Moses’ fasting made God to write on stones with His finger! Let me tell you, in the next 21 days of our fasting, if the finger of God will have to write your life story again for you, it shall be done for you so that the best year ever will not just be announcement in your life but a reality that will follow you everywhere you go!

Look at what fasting can do to a person. Moses who was running around the desert-place; I mean the same Moses who ran for his dear life; turned around to become a terror to the very things that terrorized him before! There is a price to pay for anything you admire in this life! Until you pay the price, it will be a mirage to you. There is always something to do! Find the thing that you ought to do and do it! Ask yourself: what must I do to be saved? When you do it, you shall return a victor and not a victim. You shall return in rejoicing!

Follow the steps of the Master. Be an imitator of Jesus Christ. He sought the face of God in fasting so that His fame can explode. It cost him fasting. Anything good will cost you something. The value of anything at all, is found in the sacrifice that you make to possess it. Where there is no sacrifice there is no value. How much sacrifice are you willing to make to make your expectations realities?

Do you know that when prophecies go over your life, it is left in your hands to contend and take hold of them through prayers and fast? No prophecy fulfils itself. Every believer and Convenant-child of God knows that no Word of God comes back to him void; so take the Word of God and on your knees, pray them into existence. Take your prophetic Word back to God; that’s how you become your prophecy.

The coming of Jesus was prophesied by Isaiah 600 years before Jesus was born; and as Jesus picked the bible and found the place where it was written of Him, He did not go to bed to lie down and wait for the prophecies to come to pass on their own; He had to engage in spiritual efforts that will bring to pass, the very mind of God concerning Him.

Satan left Jesus after tempting Him.

I declare to you, that demonic afflictions will let you go, in the name of Jesus! Whatever Satan has done to terrorize your life will let you go, in the name of Jesus Christ; for the bible says that upon Mt Zion, there shall be deliverance!

Satan left Jesus and angels come to minster to Him. He returned in the power of the Spirit and His fame began to spread. Why, because he was walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. People who walk in the flesh don’t fast, and they don’t pray. People who walk in the flesh don’t obey God. People who walk in the flesh are carnal; they don’t like spiritual things. It takes spirituality to give attention to the Word of God; and the extent to which you give attention to the Word of God, that is the extent to which God will give attention to you. God will positon himself behind you and his Spirit will direct your walk! Walk in the Spirit!

Walking in the Spirit means walking in the Word of God. It means walking in obedience to the voice of God. The voice of God is ever speaking, concerning every situation that you face and every choice you have to make. Walking in the Spirit means putting God first. It means seeking the face of God in everything you do. Put him first in all of your decision, even in the least decision you have to make, so that God can show you the way to go.

Jesus returned in the Spirit and as he walked in the Spirit, He took command of His destiny and began to live the life of wonders and miracles. Walking in the Spirit is beneficial. It secures your life. It secures your future. It secures your destiny. If you are not pleasing God, then forget about Him blessing you! Do you want to please God? Then, walk in the spirit! Youw ill live and not die! You will walk in peace, in Jesus name!

Romans 8:5 says:

“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the spirit, the things of the spirit. For to be carnally-minded is death but to be spiritually- minded is life and peace. because the carnal mind is in enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”

This verse of scripture means that worldliness, unspirituality and carnality is enmity with God. When you talk like they talk; when you dress like they dress; when you go to the same places they go to; you are an enemy of God. You cannot be an enemy of God and be expecting God to bless you, to bless your efforts, to bless your ways. It does not work like that because to be carnally-minded produces death, shame and destruction. It sinks your boat and your destiny; but to be spiritually-minded gives you command over life and all its situation.

Romans 8:7-8,11 says,

“So then, they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of His……….And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Jesus from the dead shall also quicken (enable, empower) your mortal bodies by his spirit that dwelleth in you”.

The bible just told us that walking in the Spirit is not an impossible thing. This same Spirit of God will enable you to please God. You cannot be a child of God and be proud, arrogant, political in speech and carriage; and talk as if you have never met Jesus. No! that is why 2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ Jesus, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new”.

Worldliness and carnality have no place in a believer’s life. If you are believer, you are separate. You have come out of darkness and you are now in the light. You cannot be operating like a child of darkness while you pretend to be the light. These are the things that determine your speed and acceleration in the program and agenda of God. That you are in Church does not mean you are spiritual, and that you have determined to live a spiritual life.

Living spiritual is a choice. Everybody is faced with choices. You can be in Church and be a thief. You can be in Church and be a confusionist. You can be in Church and be a pathetic liar. That is carnality; not spirituality.
But when you are in Church and the Church is in you, no matter how Satan tries to grab you, your spirit rebels against it. Why, because you do not belong to the kingdom of darkness; you are light. Jesus said you are now the light of the world; and as you walk, your light turns into fire!

It means you rising and taking full control of the deeds of the body. The manipulations of your flesh, the speaking and the voice of the flesh will no longer control you; you are now in charge by the Spirit! Why would you do that? That’s because you want to protect yourself from death and destruction. You are the one responsible for whatever your experiences become.

Do all things in the Spirit! That was what Jesus did. When Jesus subscribed to a life of the Spirit, the Spirit took charge of His life and began to spread His fame. You don’t need to advertise yourself. The fire of the Holy ghost will advertise wherever you are!

The scripture says in Hebrews that as a child and minister of God, you are a flaming fire in the hands of God; and so you don’t need to struggle to advertise yourself. Live in the Spirit! Do your relationships by the Spirit! Refrain from walking in the flesh! The reason why some are not married up to now is that in every relationship they have gone into, before they knew it, they have gone to have sex even before a proposal is made. And if a man will have carnal knowledge of you, 2 weeks after he met you, you will have to wait at that bus stop for the next bus and if you are not careful, the next bus will pass you by. Don’t sleep! Walk in the spirit! Be a light in your world!

When you walk in the Spirit, talk in the Spirit, do business in the Spirit, stay in the Spirit, a new dawn will open up to you by the Spirit of God.

Galatians 5:16 says: “This I say then; walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh”.

I am not saying you will not have any challenges. Satan will give you reasons to walk in the flesh. As a wife you must always remember to walk in the Spirit. Quit responding to your husband in the flesh. Quit talking like somebody who does not know Jesus! Why are you talking like an unbeliever? Even some unbelievers don’t talk the way you talk! You cannot say you want to make a successful marriage and you are the one who will talk and talk your children and your husband out of the house! Everybody is running because of your nagging and your noise-making! It is carnality! You’ve got to stop!

The answer to the lust of the flesh is walking in the Spirit. It is a choice; not a gift. Your choice will determine your outcome. You know some people receive messages like this and they are all excited and inspired but when they don’t put it to work, they wonder at the end of the day, ‘why am I still like this?’ The reason is simple. You have refused to enter the Word that entered you. As the Word of God enters you, you must also enter the Word. Entering the Word of God means engaging the Word of God and putting them to use. Faith is no faith until it is acted upon. Until you act on what you are hearing, you are not walking by faith.

“Therefore brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die. But if ye, through the spirit to mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live”. | Romans 8:12 |

How have you led and lived your life up till now? If you have lived like a carnal individual; reacting like the world would react, talking like the would talk, doing business like the world would do business, such that between you and the world, there is no clear difference; nothing shows that you are spiritually controlled?
You will not be ruled by the flesh. You will not be brought under the forces of the flesh. You will walk by the Spirit in the name of Jesus!

Let me give you a biblical practical demonstration of what we are talking about. We are the seed of Abraham; and the Convenant continues until Jesus comes back, it cannot be broken. Abraham paid the price that made us beneficiaries. In Genesis 12:1, God said to Abram (before he became Abraham),

“…..Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee……And Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him; and Abram was 75 years old when he departed out of Haran”.

Abraham, by faith, departed as the Lord had spoken unto him! He did not know where the land was! He did not know the physical nature of the land, except for what God told him! The bible says that Abram was 75 years old then, and that Lot went with him. Now, between Lot and Abraham, let us see what carnality can do and what spirituality can do.

Lot was Abraham’s nephew. God didn’t call Lot; God called Abram; but Lot went with Abram because he loved him as an uncle. Abraham could not stop him and so Lot came along, and everywhere Abram went, Lot followed. When you follow the leading of the lord, God will guide your steps. The leading of God never diminishes you. it enlarges your coast and enhances your destiny.

Genesis 13:1-2:

“And Abraham went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lord went him, into the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold”.

Living in the Spirit and walking in the Spirit will make you rich. Abram was hearing the voice of God and responding to the voice of God. Abram obeyed instantly, absolutely, without questioning or consulting with any man; and we find here that he is not empty! His departure in obedience did not decrease him; instead, it increased him.

Did Abram prosper alone? No. Lot, that went with him, also prospered.

Genesis 13:5-6
“And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for substance was great, so that they could not dwell together”.

A relationship that is not building you up is not a good relationship. May you never follow anyone that is followed by emptiness!

Abram prospered and Lot also prospered; such that the space in the land where they dwelt together could not accommodate their wealth anymore. That is what Malachi 3:11b meant when he said ‘the Lord of hosts will open the windows of heavens and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive It’.

The bible said: before they know it, there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram and the herdsmen of Lot. Please take note that the strife was not between Abram and Lot. The strife was over space to graze their cattle and their flocks. The prosperity that God brought was creating good problem but hear what Abram said to Lot. Abraham called lot and said:

‘Look my son, you know you are my brother’s son. God brought us out of our household; we didn’t even know what was going to happen. Now, God has prospered us. Please don’t let us quarrel. You remain my own. This life is too big for us to strife between us. Don’t let us spoil what God has started. Don’t let wealth make you to be my enemy. See, the land is before you! Choose whatever part that you want to go to. I will take the other” (paraphrased).

Do you see the Spirit of God? Abram gave Lot the opportunity to choose first. This is the crux of the matter! Whatever Lot choses to do either by the flesh or by the Spirit will determine how he will end up.

The bible says;

“And Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere…even like the garden of the Lord……then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed East………; and they separated themselves the one from the other”. | Genesis 13:10 |

We were not told that Lot asked the Lord to help him to make a choice; instead Lot looked up to the land and made his choice. He saw and chose by the seeing of the eyes! Lot was moved and led by human senses. He was moved and led by sight; whereas the bible says: ‘we walk by faith and not by sight’. Lot did not know that what his flesh was leading him to choose was destruction. In his heart, Lot had rejected the one (Abraham) who provided for him from the beginning. Lot went to the nation of Sodom and Gomorrah. The bible referred to them as a people that were continually wicked and sinful before God.

Now, in the first place, was Lot supposed to choose before Abram – his uncle who has been carrying him on his back, doing him well, feeding him, protecting him and being a father to him? Lot ought to have said: ‘Uncle, I am your son. Whatever you give me is fine with me. Choose for me”(paraphrased). But No!

Lot saw a land that looked like a garden; but all that glitters is not always gold. Only God knows what is good for you. Allow God to choose your inheritance for you! After Lot had chosen and left, did God abandon Abraham? No! It was after Lot left that God now showed up for Abram and said:

‘Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward and westward. For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give, and to thy seed forever”.

Who told Abram to look? God! God inspired Abram to look and to see and when he looked up, he received a promise of abundance, plus a reaffirmation that Sarah will bring forth the Child of Promise. No promise of God ever goes bad! The promises that you have not seen yet will yet appear! Walking in the Spirit attracts God’s promises.
Afterwards, angels came and ministered to Abram because God said: ‘Can I do anything without telling my friend Abram, seeing that he will conduct his family well?’ (paraphrased). A man that walks by the Spirit never abandons his children when he is coming to Church. God whispered into Abram’s ears, ‘I am going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah right now’. (paraphrase)

Now, see again the man that is led by the Spirit, who had just been hurt by his nephew who went to camp in Sodom and Gomorrah. As soon as God told Abram, out of compassion, Abram began to pray and intercede, instead of saying, ‘That serves him right!’ He was broken down and he went on his knees like a consumed man to beg because of his nephew – Lot. ‘Lord, peradventure, you find fifty; forty; twenty; ten (50; 40; 20; 10) righteous men there, will you still destroy the city?’ (Genesis 18:31-32). The reason why Abram was interceding with righteousness was because it was testified of Lot that he was a righteous man (2 Peter 2:7).

The angels sent to execute destruction over Sodom went straight to Lot’s place and said to him:

“Lot you will not be destroyed with the destruction that is coming. We have been sent to destroy this land. You need to come out because your uncle has prayed and interceded for you. Run to the mountain. Run from destruction because it is already here. The sin of Sodom has become too much for God and God is wiping them away right now’ (paraphrased).

Lot said, ‘please I don’t want to go to the mountain so that wild beasts will not eat me up. Let me go to the city of Zoab,,,,”

Lot is still choosing! He knew a safe place better than the angels!
As Lot ran to the direction of Zoab, the wife turned and looked back, against God’s instruction. Carnality would not let Madam Lot be! Worldliness led her to be consumed by the destruction! She looked back and turned into a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Lot’s wife looked and turned to a pillar of salt.

From where Abraham was, he looked toward Sodom; he looked to the same scene that Lot’s wife looked at and became salt; yet nothing happened to him (Genesis 19:28). God’s instruction gives life. A man that walks by the Spirit is secured by God! If you are told not to look back, do not look back because you saw somebody else looking back and going scot-free! Your modus operandi are not the same!

When it’s time to come to Church to fellowship and to pray, you say, ‘No. this is the only time I make money’. You need to think well! The Holy Spirit of God will never contend with you on what you choose to do. begin to do your own thing but when you begin to reap your own gain and it is not palatable, you will come back to God!

When the angels told Lot to run to the mountains and he asked instead, to be allowed to go to Zoar, and he was allowed to go to Zoar This same Lot that begged to be sent to Zoar, got to Zoar and found out that Zoar was hotter than the mountains. What was in Zoar was bigger than what he thought was in the bush. Lot by himself, left Zoar to go to the same mountain that he refused to go to before.
And so destruction came to Sodom and Sodam went into ashes.

Because Lot pitched his tent in the wrong place, the repercussion of that is that everything that God had blessed him with (herds, cattle, herds, tents, etc) were reduced to ashes. Lot did not leave with a pin, including his wife. There is nothing you gather in the flesh (carnally)that will stay with you. The bible says that wealth gotten in vanity diminishes | Proverbs 13:11 |.

“And Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountain. And his 2 daughters with him for he feared to dwell in Zoar, and he dwelt in a cave”. | Genesis 19:30 |

Choices made in the flesh can make a man end up in a cave. This Lot, is a man who used to live in a mansion and who had all manner of servants and chariots (in those days, chariots are like private jets); but now, he’s got no place to hide his head, except in a cave.
Let’s not read into what Lot and his daughters began to do; it will be too bad, but please trace the story from the beginning, it brings us right back to choice.

The choice you make today will shape your tomorrow; you and your entire household. A man that the bible testified that he became very rich is now ending up in a cave; with his daughters making him drunk so that they can get immoral and incestuous with him. That is how bad the flesh can lead a carnal human being. That thing that the flesh is telling you that if you don’t get, you will die; if you yield to it, it will take you to a place of death.
Scripture says. ’to be carnally-minded is death’. Living dead is the worst kind of death. Lot was alive and breathing but he was like a dead man. Everything he gathered has gone into flames because of his choice. What choices are you making?

“And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. ”Now, unto the sons of the concubines which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts and sent them away from Isaac, his son while he yet lived, eastward unto the East country days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived an hundred and three score and fifteen years”. – (175 years. And Abraham gave up the ghost in a good old age, an old man full of years, and was gathered to his people”.

Do you see what wisdom can do? Abraham had sons and children from other women but because his heart followed after God and because he was led by the Spirit, all of the things he had acquired, he gave unto Isaac because Isaac was the Child of Promise; the Convenant-child that God promised him. Isaac didn’t come by the efforts of man; he came by the will of God. So Abraham gave all to Isaac and still gave inheritances to all of his other children from other women.
What was he doing? He was creating peace around Isaac while he is gone. He didn’t even need to write any Will because he was giving out the inheritance with his own hands, by himself so that no trouble or fire will prevail anywhere.

Do you see what being led by the spirit can bring? Abraham prospered and transferred his wealth as inheritance to Isaac; he didn’t lose it, rather he handed it over to the next generation. At 175 years old, he had settled all his children to maintain peace in his household.

Did you see the two endings? Abraham personally transferred all the blessings – the silver, the gold, the herds and cattle; to the next generation, and to the extent that you and I are still part of Abraham’s seed; and we are still being blessed by the blessings of Abraham!

How long do you want to live? What legacies are you leaving behind? How you walk before God will determine how far you go. Abraham grew old and slept peacefully. Did you notice that there is no one place where we were told in the bible that Abraham fell sick? There were no such records. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people | Proverbs 14:34 |.

Galatians 6:7-10,
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked for whatever a man soweth, that shall he reap; for he that soweth to his flesh, shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the spirit, shall reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season, we shall reap if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all m3n, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

Praise the name of the Lord!

Be careful what you do and say. The days of emotional outbursts that makes you say anything you want to say from the flesh are gone. Kick them out!

The end of the end is here. Yesterday, the Israeli forces bursted into the mosque in Jerusalem, where the temple mouth is; where the new sanctuary is going to be built. The materials for the construction of the temple are ready. They don’t want a mosque in that place anymore and this is part of the prophecies of what will happen before Jesus comes – that that mosque will be brought down and that the temple will be built; and that as soon as the temple is built, Jesus will come down because he is going to minister from that temple-place.

Let him that has ears hear what the Spirit of God is saying.
Glory to Jesus!
